I have a distinct dislike of thumbstuds (pegs, lugs, etc.), they just haven't worked for me. 90% of my folders are Spyderco knives. I have enough Spyderco folders to handle any job.
I have never had a liner lock fail, I wasn't driven to get an Umfaan/Sebenza out of need.
I have titanium-handled folders. I have or have had other frame/mono lock folders.
But...
Reading here on the forums, I couldn't ignore all the statements regarding impeccable quality etc., etc. But what really swayed me in the end were the Fred Perrin reviews (see URL's clipped below).

Besides his obvious respect for Chris's knifemaking skills and the quality of the Sebenza and Umfaan, Fred offers the opinion that a "defensive" knife need not be large (I have one of his Griffe knives, and it is tiny). Therefore, the diminutive size of the Umfaan is actually a great benefit in an urban situation. He refers to the Small Sebenza as "a beast of a knife" and goes on to say that he gave away his large Sebenza, preferring a fixed blade to a folder of that size. This has shifted my focus away from having any large folders, so I have sold off all of my over 3-inch long folders (except for my Lum Chinese - you need that extra length on a picnic knife).
So I got my Umfaan on Monday and my Small Classic Sebenza on Tuesday (good week, huh?). I am carrying both, and I am happy to report that I finally found a thumbstud that works for me. By the way, removing the clip and lanyard and carrying in the leather case is a great way for office folk to carry a Small Sebbie, IMO.
If you can afford the cost, get one, or many. And get the Classic, very comfortable in the hand, and better thumbstud access than the Regular if you have fat thumbs like myself.
