(I hope my post will be comprehensible
)
Since december 2000, Im the happy owner of a small (standard serrated) Sebenza .
Im a big person (2830 ounce for 73.6 inch (1.87m et 80 Kg, sorry for the unit)) with big hands (7.9 inch form the wrist to the middle finger end and a 3.6 inch palm width) but the small Sebenza fits my hand very well ! I dont have any problem to open and close the knife with one hand and to do all the tasks an EDC knife is (in my mind) made for.
This knife never leaves me and there are many reasons I like my Sebenza but the most important are :
- the strong and precise mechanism : it always works very fine even it isnt well kept ! (I dont use any lubricant. There is a scratch on the blade end side dues to the marble in the liner (do you see what I mind ?) Make sure that this scratch and the marble are clean and you obtain a very smooth opening)
- the construction simplicity : the design is very pure and dont scare people around me.
- the sharp resistance (I only rub sometimes the edge on a piece of leather and the knife cut like a new one) (Im not sure but I think the edge is concave and not linear)
For this 2 years, I was buying many other well-know brand knives. Im always very disappointed. The mechanism is to much complicated and hard to maintain, the finish quality is poor, the design is not relevant I think when you have taste the Sebenza it is very difficult to like other knives.
Now, I want to save money and to buy a second Sebenza. But I hesitate, should I buy a small classic or a large standard ? My wish is to use the new knife as a second one (if the first is take apart etc) and maybe to do more difficult tasks. But Im afraid the large standard is to big and will scare people (and police officier) and I dont want to buy an another small standard. Can you give me your point of view ? Have you some pictures of a small with a large standard or with a small classic ?
Thank in advance !
