Why I love knives

I get asked a lot, usually from my wife, "why are you so into knives?".
I tell her, well, theres a lot of reasons.
They're useful, whether clearing bamboo, camping, cleaning fish, or making a large cardboard box into a "castle" for the kids, I use them almost every day.
They're pieces of art. Look at the lines and detail put into a Hoback flipper,,or a Marfione DOC,,, just gorgeous.
It brings me into a community of great people on this forum. Ive seen a lot of laughs, great advice, and people offering help or prayers to others.
Most of all,, I can say that I now own a piece of THE BEST steel in the world, that will surely outlive my grandchildren.
Hopefully its not my last...

When my wife asked me why I need so many knives; I asked her why she needs so many bottles of shampoo.
There are between five to seven different bottles of shampoo and conditioner in our shower at any given time.
I pick the one with the least amount and try to use it up but a new bottle always arrives before the one I'm working on is empty.

I guess knives are like shampoo... you can never have enough.

People are always surprised when they find out that I enjoy knives. You've explained it quite well..... Some just don't get it.

Great explanation... it is useful art but there's also something very primal about it to. My wife can't understand it just as much as I can't understand her love of cloths and shoes .

I have a large collection of blades and my wife still has more pairs of shoes than I have knives.

Oh yeah, I can use my knives and if need be sell them. Most or her shoes havent been worn and arent worth anything.
