Why I Love the Axis Lock

A well broken in axis lock, especially with a heavy blade like the Contego flicks open so nicely.

That’s a Taggedout I posted and it definitely doesn’t have a “heavy“ blade - it’s a thin, light weight slicer!

Looks good, I am waiting on the Taggedout with the orange magnacut blade, it looks amazing.

I’ve got two of them (CPM 154) and they both came out of the box with a hair shaving edge.

The Benchmade Axis lock definitely requires a brake in period to get that drop closed action. They aren’t cheap, but if they were built to the kind of tolerances that don’t need break in ( CRK, for example) they would cost twice as much!

In that case, never get an auto AXIS, nor an assisted unless you plan on de-assisting

Not sure what your’re getting at - I have both the Barrage and Emissary. They were great new and just keep getting better with use.

Went through few BMs, never, ever needed break in period for the AXIS. Love the AXIS lock, especially on the Grips.
Knives&Lint Knives&Lint , just curious if you don't mind - what you don't like with the AO in general, not this particular AXIS subject

Perhaps I am mistaken, but what I took from the video and the title of the the thread is that what the OP loved about the AXIS lock was the ease of one handed closing by engaging the lock and letting the blade fall shut, a function that is negated in assisted and auto AXIS locks.

I personally have de-assisted my barrages for that very reason

Yeah, but you’re the only one talking about assisted action. I don’t know of any type of action that has a fall shut action on an assisted knife.

OK, I'm just going to stop engaging here and agree with shane45-1911 shane45-1911

I really didn't mean anything by it, just that I thought what you loved about the AXIS lock was one-handed closing
✌️
Yes, that is one of the things I “love” about the Axis lock but that’s all out the window when it come to assisted knives. And, if you choose to agree with that rather rude response from Shane 45 -1911 that’s certainly your right.

Well, at least one of the reasons:
I like the Axis type locks and the Ball bearing lock , but that lock in your video closes way too easy for my comfort .

Unless you do one finger pushups ? 🥷

Thanks, I see, make sense. I personally like the AO for the simple reason that locking the blade does not rely on my "human factor"
Another sort of advantage I noticed, on some liner lock blades as my Heiho in example, if the liner lock fails for some reason,
you know those hit the back of the blade "tests", the spring don't allow the blade to close on your grip, it brings it back to locked position.
Small thing like this, not really terribly important.
Sorry for the off topic.
