Why I ordered a Sebenza

This day was a long time comming but today I ordered a small regular Sebenza. Of course I've read the threads and admired the Seb for a while, but price was the issue. I just could not justify the cost till recently I turned a corner on that. What turned me was the great thread by Ted Voorde on how to clean a Seb. The really nice photos showing the inside workings of the knife, the well designed pivot area, etc. I must have one!
If I would have handled one, I may have gotten one sooner.

congratulations. You will always love the quality of this fine knife and have great pride of ownership. Nothing better.

Smart move.

I doubt you'll regret it. I really enjoy taking my Sebs apart, cleaning, lubing, and reassembling and appreciating the superior machining and tolerances of fit. Sebenzas are outstanding knives at any price.

The waiting IS the hardest part!! It is never soon enough, unless you pay for overnite shipping! (I have never done that though.)

I'm sorry to hear that. You don't just get a knife, you get get a disease! You will end up with 2 or 3 of them and nothing else will do. All of a sudden you start finding flaws in the rest of your knives from other companies that you had not noticed before. Bam.. another CRK in the mail. It never gets easier, congrats on a great knife and tool.

Yes, I fear I may have to have a Large Seb, just to see if I "missed" anything with the Small. Ha!

I ended up with three Sebenza knives in one one month! It is an addiction! You need to add a computer generated graphics model to your collection:D. With all the talk about he mammoth ivory model, I am tempted...hehehe!

Mine's pulled pocket time now since '02, and I've never looked back. Scratches have merely made it feel loved, and even some accidental battery acid etching on the blade have given it some character.

Sebenzas are true workhorses if you give them the chance, which a lot of people do not!

Professor.

Small Regular Sebenza:
Got it Thursday. My first chance to write.
I'm glad I bought this knife, now I have a standard to go by when I compare all knives. It didn't take me long to conclude, it is as good as they say it is. I can say this is a masterwork, and I have handled and worked on a lot of knives.
First I like the stonewashed blade finish, it's the best finish for a working blade. The beadblasted scales look great, nice gray.
Knife operates smoothly as expected, lock up is a bank valt. Another thing I like is, the parked blade will not move side to side. All other folders I have done this too will have a "flex" side to side. Not this one. Impressed!

I tested cutting wood and cardboard and it cuts well. It doesn't slice like a Calypso, but this blade is ground for harder work, so that is ok. (well ground blade)

This knife is a complete package I expect to have it for a long time, or however long I have. The size is just right for my uses. I will have to toughen up my thumb though, it's sore, the opening and closing is a little harder than I am used to.

The only thing I would change is the stud. I would go with a more square one rather than the Christmas tree. Making it easier to open. Also a slightly longer handle would help (leave the blade alone).

Can't wait till it gets dirty, so I can open it up. Oh, oh, need the CRK greese.
