I just got done reading another "Whats Next" thread. Ive been coming around for a couple years now (dont post much) and everthing is a secret, whats next, offerings from skunk ,Boss wont tell Amy anything till the last minute, etc.....Is this just for the fun of keeping everyone guessing or is there a legit reason for it. It is kinda fun, but sometimes I'd just like to go " hey this giant cookie cutter is around the corner, I better save some dough this month".....guess I should just make an allotment for Busse knives from month to month.

yeh, that seems to be the way of doing business here. Check the forum 20 times a day and hope you can get in the web store for the 10 minutes the knives are available. I guess if it ain't broken, then don't fix it. I guess it speaks to the quality of the BUSSE family blades when you can run the business this way. The few I have are fantastic knives. I would have more, but as we know, they can be hard to score. They seem to sell everything they put out and quickly. I wish I was smart enough to come up with a product like that, but I ain't.

as for skunks intel, i can't ever catch jerry sober enough to understand what he's talking about. and when i do he's always drunk when he relays the message to production. i now resort to written emails but amy is usually drunk and deletes them before they get printed.

Skunk, I guess you're the designated something, always need one in the crowd to take care of the others.

I'll say this... from a marketing perspective it is brilliant. Keeping your customers... er... addicts constantly on pins and needles speculating about what will be or won't be next. It creates a bit of a frenzy when the knives are released. Its almost like the feeling I used to have when I was a kid waiting for Christmas... well... except for in this case Jerry plays Santa. ;)

It works on me for sure. I get fully wound up and If I didnt snag at least 2 of whats available on the ones I like ,I feel a pang of regret when theres no more stock...I aint mad, just curious. Swore I'd wait till the Knob Creek show ,but couldnt hold out. SOOOO... whats next haha.

One important thing to keep in mind about the ordering process for new blades from Busse Combat, is that when a new knife goes up for order on the site, the knives do not get billed and shipped for a couple months or so. So really you can start saving after you've placed your order for whatever the new knife is.

Exactly....

When the new protocol was announced, a list of knives to be offered was posted along with anticipated dates. I for one am glad that that list was not strictly adhered to. Think of the knives we would not now have. The Game Warden, the ASH1, the Ruck, the Cultie and several others. The SAR's and the Nesmuck designs would not be on the table.

The fact is, the creativity emanating from Busse Combat is not compatible with a firm long-term production schedule. It continues to amuse me how people want the Busse magic with the Walmart predictability and availability. It will not, it can not happen that way.

I like it the way it is.

To avoid the trouble involved in Factory orders, I for one choose to use either the Company store or the secondary market.

NOW, I understand why I keep getting steel hearts with badger handles and badgers with cultie handles, and meaners with fusion handles! :o I'm just not using the right Whiskey! er language! :p

Yeah but just think how far away the next round of Fusion Outlaws are!

busse probably doesn't know when exactly they will switch the website over to a new run, or whether one specific run is going to actually be next until a month or less of it happening. obviously they have to set up production protocol for the new run of knives, but they may be setting up 3 or 4 models at one time, and aren't sure wich one will take precedence.

Lets say they did know which model was coming up in 30 days, and they announce it. But, do to other priority orders, it gets pushed back 15 days. then due to website issues, it gets pushed back another 15 days. then due to a shop machine malfunction, another 7 days.

now you have a bagillion unhappy customers emailing and posting about how late the new model is.

and as far as the company store goes, would it help me to know that in about 5 months there may or may not be an order of ffsh's, depending on what the situation in the shop is like? not really.

because it works and they/he can, and if I was in their/his shoes I may very well do the same - at least some of the time. it's a brilliant (albeit frustrating) model, no doubt. Pavlov would be proud...

I do love the knives, but the process is definitely less than ideal for me personally and I know for sure I'd buy more (and) sooner if I could just order what I want, how I want it, and when I want it. </whine>

but, I'm also pretty sure this mild increase in sales (meaning what I'd buy in my ideal scenario vs how it works now) isn't anything compared to the substantial numbers generated by the way its run now and the associated cultish-longings and feeding frenzy approach.

as such, I suck it up and deal with it. I've started talks with them regarding getting a custom shop piece, which is (I gather) one of those "two weeks" deals that may turn into years of agonizing waiting but it's not like I can get a slightly customized and highly specific serrated MOASH in DC w/ Magnum Black G-10 just anywhere...

so, sit back, check the classifieds and here often (like so many of us), and get your Oink on... I've found that handling/using the ones you do have somehow helps get you through each "two week" period.

It would be awesome if they offered one standard model all the time. But I guess it would take some of the fun away.

I'd prefer being kept in the loop. Frankly waiting for the package to show up onces its been billed is enough anticipation for me.
