What I have is not really suede . It is the rough backside of a goatskin . THe texture is somewhat suedelike so I thought I would ask . It got some deer blood and was exposed to dampness . I saddle soaped it and want tp put a bit of Neetsfoot on the non hair side to make it a little more resistant against the weather .

It'll make a matted, sticky mess. Use a silicone-based waterproofing spray, available in a variety of brands at most shoe stores and outdoor stores.

Josh I have some of the silicone base . I was hoping to use the neetsfoot for its softenibg properties . The leather is in pretty good shape . There are a couple of stiff spots I would like to make more pliable .

I could make a test as I have more of the skin .

I'd apply it lightly, Kevin. It'll probably darken the leather. It'll tend to slick down the fibers that give it the suede appearance and feel though, at least potentially.

Thanks Josh . I,ll proabably blot it on and if it darkens the leather it does not matter to me . even if it matts down the slight nap it will not matter as long as it is not oily/tacky .
