Why is my bravo 1 so light?

I was surprised to feel how light my bravo 1 is specifically in comparison to similar sized knives. For example the Esee 4 and bk16 feel heavier to me and they have thinner steel thickness. Can someone explain this? Also how do you like it? My first impression is I like to feel a little more weight in my hand but maybe most prefer the lighter carry.

I dont have a Bravo 1 but I am looking at getting one soon. I do know that a couple of the versions of the Bravo 1 have skeletonized tangs under the handles.

I used to have an Esee 4 but wasnt satisfied with the ergonomics or the blade geometry. I sold it and got a Fallkniven S1 instead. It is thicker, lighter, has a better steel, and better edge geometry. I would recommend it over the RC-4. The S1 and the SWKW RMD.

Mine doesn't feel unusually light, just appropriate for its size. Very solid knife.

I agree about the esee 4 ergos. Just doesn't feel right in my hand. the esee 3 and esee5 do though. the bk16 feels great in hand but wanted something a little more robust to fill the void between the esee4/bk16 and the esee5/bk2. thought the bravo1 would do just that but its a little light. i guess the lightness is good for carrying it but i like to have a little weight behind the knife for chopping. i will have to work on technique i guess. still can't complain, the convex edge is sharp as hell and it is very compfortable in my hand.

The Bravo 1 is light because the handle area was skeletonized so that it balances right where your forefinger sits, like a knife should. I should add that the skeletonizing is not a problem. I've beat on Bravo 1s made from A2, 3V, and S35VN and they do the job of a knife and a small hatchet.

Well balanced knives feel lighter in the hand. The reason an ESEE-4 feels heavy is because it has poor balance. This is what knifemakers mean when they call a knife a "sharpened prybar".

Enjoy your Bravo 1, they're fantastic "do it all" knives.
