Depends on the thread.
If it's a sale thread that's years old, it's a waste of our time reading that.
If it's a long thread on a minor subject and the necropost is "Oh, wow!", the same -- waste.
If the necropost isn't even on the original topic, people suckered into reading old information.
If the old thread isn't too long, is still relevant, and the necropost is on topic, no problem.
If it's a sale thread that's years old, it's a waste of our time reading that.
