Looking at the RAT's on Knife Center-- can somebody tell me why the RC5's are quite a bit more than all the other fixed blades? The RC6 is longer, but less money. Thanks

The RC-5 is a huge chunk of steel, and well worth the money. Also, the Eagle sheath is an awesome piece of kit and accounts for some of the price difference.

newer models are almost always more expensive, the company has to recoup the cost of new tooling and machinery, whereas the older models have already paid for themselves (hopefully) and are now making the company some profit. the RC-5 is also made from thicker stock (.25 vs .188) but I doubt that adds more than a dollar to the production cost, 1095 is pretty cheap after all. if you want the exact reasons you should post your question on the RAT subforum, the guys over there are great and I'm sure they wouldn't mind taking a minute to answer you.

It also has the fire drill divot and glass breaker pommel which are just a couple more manufacturing steps to account for. Not to mention heavier shipping because the thing is a beast compared to the rest of the RAT knives.
