Why is shipping to Canada so expensive?

The shipping from the Emerson website is outragously expensive, does anyone know why or have an explaination? They want $40+ usd to ship a pocket clip across the boarder.

If anyone know any alternatives id greatly apprecaite it, im looking to buy a couple of the black skull pocket clips.
