Why is the Eskabar always being compared to the Izula?

I received a new Eskabar without ever having previously handling one. My initial impression on taking it out of the box is that in size it is more of a general purpose knife than the Izula.

The Eskabar is actually identical to a Esee 3 without a choil in blade shape and size with the difference of the Eskebar having a tad more drop to the point and losing about an 1/8" or so of cutting edge.

So really the Eskebar is more akin to a compact Esee 3.

I'm really looking forward to giving the Eskabar some use and adding some slabs to the handle. Love the blade shape and can see it doing many things well.

The 14 is the blade of an 11 with the handle of an Izula. That is why it's always being compared to it.

I think the Izula and the BK11 (if I have my number scheme correct...the "Becker Necker) are the two most highly regarded neck knives in the industry. I don't like the Becker Necker because the placement of the bottle opener is extremely uncomfortable for me. The Izula's rounded pommel is comfortable. The Eskebar is generally marketed as a neck knife...thus, I presume, the frequent comparisons. If I had smaller hands, I suspect I would not have any difficulty with the Becker Necker.

Not for me I have little boy hands and it is uncomfortable in my hands

The only difference is in the blade shape; otherwise, the Izula and the Eskabar are essentially the same knife.

LOL! Yeah, I have tiny lady hands, and the 11 isn't the most hand positive knife I own. But I like it none the less. It still cuts stuff, and I'm not dressing any deer in my cubicle, so it's all good.

I can understand the confusion...I was so confused, especially after a few Sol's, I just bought both, which ended the insanity.:D

by this logic the BK-9 and the BK-5 are essentially the same knife!

I loved the 14 for a long time but when i handled the izula i realized i love the izula more..so much so i traded my eskabar for a second black izula for my son.
Heresy...i know but i still love my 9.
