Why is the Paramilitary2 less expensive than the original?

This is not a complaint. I'm just curious. With the added tapping for the four way clip, slightly longer blade, and all the tooling needed to change so many features I would think that it would be more expensive. Especially since many new products are usually priced a little higher right after release.

So either a loss leader to make new customers or reducing profit per unit to move more units total? Makes sense.

A decision "to move more units total" suggests that Sal has found more capacity. Since there has been no news of an expansion at Golden, I'd look for additional lines to move offshore to the Taiwan maker of the Sage, Perrin, G. Bradley. Just a guess.

I will say that I find the quality of my Taiwanese Spyderco's to be more than outstanding so I wouldn't quibble if that's the decision.

It could be that something about the P2 makes it less labor intensive to make then its predecessor. I don’t know but if I had to guess I’d say that paying skilled domestic labor was more expensive then materials.

Whatever the case may be I’m not complaining.

you must have found the CPM D2 para you were hankering for, Rolf ;)

I think the new Para looks amazing, and specifically can't wait for the S90V sprint to come out.

James, I missed that D2.
I will get a P-Mil 2. I'm on da list at New G.
