Photos Why is there such a difference in the font of the tang stamps between 2023 and 2024 on my 191 and 192?

Why is there such a difference in the tang stamp on these 2 knives? I am aware of the date codes and such. I am referring to the positioning of the lettering
, tge lack of period dots between the USA on the 2024 model ect. I found this on the official buck website that matches the 2024 tang stamp. Recently, Matt mentioned a change in the stamping process on 420HC blades.

Maybe we will hear from Buck Knives Inc. with more on the new process. I think the new stamps look much better and I'm curious to know how they do it.

This was answered on another forum (same knives) and they said that the tang stamps are deep Lazer engraved now.

It bugs me that the three lines of the tang stamp in the second photo aren't centered.

These are all "stamped" with a new deep laser engraver. Updating this process has solved some manufacturing issue with stamping steel.

It is a nice improvement for sure. I wonder if is slows down the process - the laser engravers I've seen in action are pretty slow compared to stamping. Will we see this deep laser engraving on the premium steels someday?

The deep laser engraver is actually much faster. We are having discussion about how to approach the exotic steels.
