Why isn't the button lock used more often? What are the pro's and con's of it?

con--susceptible to blade play (verticle in the plane the blade opens)
con--more complex to produce than the average liner lock
pro or con(depending how you look at it)--usually the mechinism allows (or dictates)the blade to lock in the closed position as well.
pro--when done well they're fairly reliable.
