Why isn't there a regular manix 2 with FFG blade?

I'm aware of the sprints and the lightweight models, but why isn't there a regular manix 2 with FFG blade?

I prefer steel liners and G10 scales, but I'm not going to pay up for a sprint model.

Does anybody else wish for a regular manix 2 with FFG blade?

Personally, I really enjoy my lightweight Manex 2. A lot of knife with only a little bit of weight. For my purposes it's strong, sturdy, and durable. I understand what you're saying though.

You could get the XL version, they are FFG. The latest versions have skeletonized liners and weigh 5.2 oz.

I do have the XL version, and I like it. I wish I had one with solid liners.

I find the manix 2 easier to open and close with one hand than the XL.

Then pay the premium for a sprint, or trade me. I have a full liner xl and wish I had the skeletonized.

I'm in the same boat as you sogflash. I've been waiting for a regular Manix 2 with a FFG blade.

The reason that sprint and/or dealer exclusive Manixes may be FFG, whereas the base model is not, I bet is a marketing issue. In order to double the MSRP on a Manix, you have to do something a little beyond changing the color of the G10. Adding a "better" steel may be part of the calculus, but so is adding FFG. This is just my guess. When in doubt, always come back to the reality that making and selling knives is about generating profit. This is not a bad thing, because its how we get our knives in the first place. Its just a fact.

Regrind is always an option, there are talented members in our community that can easily do that.

Not always...I can't regrind my DLC Manix 2. That would defeat the DLC part. If/when they bring out a S30V/FFG/DLC Manix 2, i'll buy another one. For now i'm EDC'ing the standard hollow saber version, though the grind definitely leaves something to be desired.

I feel the same way as you do....

The first Manix 2 that I landed was a Black G-10 CTS BD30P as pictured below.I carried a legacy Manix for years.Made me scratch my head for a while when the Manix 2 first came out as the legacy production model was FFG. Check out the Native 5 it has steel liners and G10 scales and is FFG for around $120.

Also I think Spyderco wants a little variety. At this point, nearly everything is FFG including Manix2 sprints. I would also prefer a FFG (I have a BD30) black Manix2.

I wish that the original Manix 2 has FFG blade. FFG blade has a thicker tip and looks better on the Manix 2. I bought the XL version because it has FFG blade, however i don't like the clip... I wish that the XL has the same deep carry as the Manix 2.
Oops, 2 wishes here.

While I understand some of the desire to have a FFG blade on the Manix 2, I've come to enjoy the hollow grind. As FCM415 noted, a lot of Spyderco's knives have a FFG blade, so I like the idea of a bit of variety in the lineup. I regularly go back and forth carrying my Manix 2 and various Manix 2 sprint runs, and I enjoy using all of them.

Either way, I think we can all agree that it's a pretty great knife!

I own a M4 Manix and a DLC normal version. IMO. There is nothing wrong with the standard production model.

The M4 Manix is awesome, isn't it? It's been my main carry blade for about the past two months. Cuts like a beast and the M4 holds an edge extremely well. I love the handle color, as well.
