No but not really. So I've been lurking around the forums for a couple of years-ish now. Just reading all the wackiness that goes down, I stopped being active for awhile due to well, growing up. Hitting your twenties and striking out on your own is no picnic! I thought I was in remission, but as of late the disease has come back with a vengeance, the largest casualty being my wallet. Though so far it's only eaten away at unimportant things like the new laptop fund, leaving things like my food and gas fund untouched, thankfully.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank you all so very much, specially those Spydie-freaks out there, for enabling me to pull the trigger on a Street Beat. Which I've heard you lamenting is overpriced over there, just be glad you aren't in my ass-backward country where the Street Beat will be running me 800++ of my money after conversion, shipping and blah blah.
The main point of this post though is to see if anyone has heard of the impending launch of this baby:
Specs:
OAL: 6.7"
Blade Length: 3.4"
Thickness: 1/14"
Blade Steel: 440C
From what I've been able to dig up, Bill Coye has licensed his Ridgeback design to Boker who will be launching it, according to their website "May 2013." I've read that it's been ready for pre-order in Europe for some time already and should launch in the States in a few more months. Based on the price in Euros it should retail for sub $100 which makes it less than half the price of a custom version made by Bill Coye himself, which to be fair is not all that unreasonably priced at $200 as listed on his site.
I haven't seen any posts or anything about it, but damn am I excited. I'd love me a Ridgeback, specially if it doesn't run me another 800 bucks. Haha! Care to share your thoughts, guys? Would you nab one or just grab a custom from Bill Coye himself? Gripes? Reservations? On my part I'm pretty hyped. I've loved the Ridgeback design for ages. Only thing I'd probably do to the Boker model is snag me some custom scales in a different colour or make my own.
Apologies for the word vomit.
I'm glad to be back!
ETA: I hope listing the prices here isn't considered deal spotting or any sort of rules breach! If it is I'll gladly remove them, though if I remember the rules rightly it's not deals potting if I don't link to sites where you can purchase them. Still, just wanted to cover my ass!
