Yes of course if the cloth is very dirty with some abrasive material, eg cutting carpet can be hell on knife edges. Some synthetic cloths may also be abrasive or contain abrasive "filler" materials. Of course a poor edge on the knife will also have an effect on the longevity fo the edge assuming the HRC is adequate, ie HRC 55 and above.Can cloth cuting dull knife?

My knife is polished edge
I Don't know. local blacksmith said that this is carbon stee.You'll have better results if the edge is less polished. A slightly toothy edge is what you want for cloth.
Please explain what you mean by "carbon steel". A lot of folks use that term for any steel which does not rust. What alloy is the blade steel?
After stroping my knife 90% back to sharpnes. ThanksI would guess that the knife was sharpened to a fine wire edge that rolled over when you cut the cloth. Try stropping the blade.
