Why No Awl With Combo-Tool?

I have just entered the ranks of the Vic Scientist EDC'ers. Thanks to Tim of FelineVet I am the proud new owner of a Victorinox Scientist (its a whole lot nicer than I realized it was going to be). I read UnknownVT's thread about the Vic Combo tool and I'm on board with everything he wrote there. But here's my question:

Why don't the models, that come with a combo tool, also come with an awl?

e.g. the Scientist is a two layer job, like the Spartan. It comes with a cork screw like the Spartan, but it doesn't come with any other back mounted tools like an awl. Why?

Victorinox (and Wenger) SAKs have certain combinations of tools.

For example the main blade and the small blade have the corkscrew on the back.....
of course my favorite Combo-Tool is a small blade replacement -
so that applies to it too...
and again the Phillips screwdriver on the back is a corkscrew replacement
and there's where you'll find it......

The awl/reamer is on the back of the screwdriver/cap-lifter and can-opener.

Since the combo-tool basically does the tasks of these two separate tools
- it "eliminates" that backspring/layer altogether.
Hence no reamer

Oh I see. The awl is dedicated to the cap lifter/can opener spring. For them to add the awl say on the Scientist would require a whole new retooling or something. . .right?

Thanks Vincent, it was a pleasure to finally speak to you!
