I am always wondering why benchmade doesnt have a forum? Was their one at some time?

Benchmade runs their own forum on their own web site.

For a company to have a forum here, they need to supply a moderator from their company. Benchmade has not chosen to do this.

I don't know. Have you asked them?

(Moving this from General Knife Delivery to Service & Support.)

When manufacturers have a forum here, we expect them to man it. This means they need to have employees -- read salary and benefits -- who spend at least part-time manning the forum. I know that this will come as a shock to some, but, while bf.c is the undisputed king of knife discussion sites, there are others and I'm sure that Benchmade doesn't want to piss people off in the sometimes-highly-political area of internet forums by having a forum on one site and not all the rest. Benchmade has had their own forum for many years and I'm sure they don't want to shut that down since it is well-established and popular. My guess is that they can't afford to have people manning their forum site and also a forum here... and there and everywhere.

I think that that's sort of poorly worded... disorganized... but it's very hot out here in Oregon and has been for days and days now. My wine cellar is up to 60.5 which is hotter than it should be in July. So, to cool myself down and easy my worries about the wine, I'm drinking gin and tonics... and gin and tonics.... and gin and tonics.

Did I mention that it's very hot here?

I don't think I'll post anymore tonight.... the heat is getting to me.

i always figured manufacturers had to pay to post and have their own section here. is that not true?

I believe that the only requirement as mentioned is that they man and maintain the sub-forum. There isn’t any additional cost.

i wish Kershaw would come back then (but know why they aren't here). much of my interest in Kershaws and ZTs was generated by reading the posts in their section. it was the best (and only?) place to go for info about upcoming models too. i lost some interest in Kershaw since their forum died off, and have been spending my $ on other brands.

We don't charge the manufacturers for forums, no.

thanks for the 411, Spark. sure seems silly for any vendor to_not_ have a forum then on the biggest, best knife site on the interweb. the older i get, the less sense CXO decisions make to me.

BM has their own forum and even there they are a very quiet company. Not to say they don't listen to their customers (the new 806 is proof of that), they just don't have much of an online persona.
