I just wondered if the concept of different colored Grivory scales for the Beckers had ever come up ?

I was thinking how the option of how easily found Safety Orange scales or maybe Toxic Green for the zombie hunters:D might prove popular.

I'd think changing the color for production purposes would be an easy task.

Thoughts ?

I have thought of this too, and wish that all the beckers would come with an extra set that is differently colored like the tweeners. I would be perfectly content if they were all coyote too:D

The tweeners come with black and coyote scales, and the BK14 scales are orange and black. I think some Coyote grivory scales for the full-size Beckers would be the dog's bollocks, I'd be all over those. Might be an attractive cheaper alternative to the micarta scales. I'd love to have some lighter coloured scales for my soon-to-be-stripped BK9, but I don't really feel like forking out 40€ for these.

Exactly^ I don't know what I am gonna do for handles when I get a full size becker. the grivory scales aren't terrible, just a bit slippery. I think I am going to stipple them, then paint them, or just spray some ruber in a can on em:D

I'm not a fan of the peanut butter colored scales. But in New Mexico I could see it.
modestly priced colored grivory (or zytel or whatever) scales would be awesome. I believe K-9 did a mould, but it sounded like a pile of work.

Haha:D

Grivory scales are made from the rib bones of the elusive and endangered Greater Leatherback Griv.
The flesh of the animal is so tough that the only way to clean the bone of any remaining flesh is to burn it off in an cleansing fire, which chars the bone black.

You could leave it a natural white, but I, for one, would not want to touch it in that state.

Shown in the natural state:

As opposed to an "unnatural state", such as Massachusetts.

I'd like to see some maroon colored scales, that and some factory liners, and micarta for the tweeners, and the brute. We all can dream lol.

I asked Tsooj about doing white scales so we can dye them and it sounds like black is all there's going to be. Of course, if the demand becomes known....

Factory liners??? What would you be willing to pay? Just make your own out of Kydex or some other thin plastic. Somebody here recently made a set out of gasket paper!

Maroon?

I have strange taste lol, and as for the liners they're easy enough to make but they'd be nice standard issue with the tweeners :D

IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, KRYLON CAN DO IT.

But ya... OD/Coyote/Orange/Toxic/etc. would be cool... don't have to be included but like.. what.. $5? for the set? Even $10.. i think they'd sell pretty well, actually.

Given people's propensities for color I am surprised this hasn't come up yet too, at least blaze orange, and coyote brown like the ones that come with the tweeners. I just swapped the black ones on my BK-17 for the coyote brown ones for a more earth tone, less tactical look. I do like the brown, but mainly I wish they had factory natural canvas micarta scales available for them like the bigger Beckers.

Was wondering about krylon myself, it stays on guns pretty well when painting on a snow camo, Might need to rough up the scales a bit first. might try it on a spare set unless someone already has without good results....

It's definitely come up before. Someone asked about it on the "Ask Tooj" thread as well. They're well aware of it, but I don't know if it will ever be a reality or not.

It seems reasonable a knife with removable scales would have several options available from the factory. They could be changed out depending on what you're doing. I'd love to have a set of orange scales for my BK2.
