I´m a little gutted about Buck Knifes! I really like the Buck 110 Folding Hunter, and it would be great to own a custom version with a S30V blade and some nice handle. But sadly there seems no way to order one from germany, where i live. That really sucks :grumpy:

Can´t believe that i have to go to Boker for a nice traditional folder.

Yes,that would piss me off too!I have a hard time getting one in Canada,$30 for shipping a knife is a bit much for me.

Just a guess since I don't speak for Buck but probably for the same reasons that a lot of people and companies don't sell to international customers. Things like customs, import fees, long delivery times, different laws, customs confiscations, theft, etc. Maybe it's just too time intensive or there is to much potential liability for loss or theft. Shoot, we have companies here in the U.S. that won't ship ammo or firearms accessories to our own citizens because certain state laws are so vague that they can't be sure they won't be breaking some law by doing business with customers in those states so rather than run the risk they just don't. It would be great if all companies were able to satisfy every possible customer but that's just not a realistic expectation.
In the end the only real answer to your question would to call or email Buck directly and ask them why. Everything else is just speculation.

As far as shipping to Canada just check a few online dealers. I found large online dealers charging from $26 to $35 so is $30 really that out of line?

Normally it costs about 5$ or less for you to ship something to Canada. Shipping within Canada is higher than it is to ship from US to Canada. I refuse to pay over 15$ for someone to fill out that little sticker for customs.

Andre, hast Du mal bei Buck per E-Mail nachgefragt?
May be that it helps. Wenn sie tatsächlich nicht
nach Deutschland liefern, schreib' mir mal ne PM.

I've had knives shipped to me from all over the USA,one knife has never cost me more than $14 to ship,if you feel $30 to ship one knife is ok,you have much deeper pockets than i do.LOL

Well, Razor the 30 "bucks" is not the only bullet you have to bite.
The German custom service takes another 40 Bucks for a custom
110. And you've to pay taxes for the shipping fee too. If a German
orders a custom 110 he has to be an avid fan of the folding hunter.

Best,
Haebbie

I'm not OK with it or not OK with it. Just pointing out that some charge more and some charge less so $30 seems kind of middle of the road as far as charges go. Private sales and online dealers probably charge differently depending on the arrangement and value of the item shipped.

Buck is a manufacturer, not a dealer. Yes, they will sell direct to a customer, but that's like MSRP -- manufacturer's suggested retail price. They don't want to compete with their dealers, who handle sales better than they do, so they can concentrate on building knives.

Many dealers aren't happy with selling outside the country, either, and will charge a prohibitive premium to do so. It isn't just the postage, and it isn't just that little sticker for customs. I have personally shipped to several countries, no big deal, just a few customs forms, just a few items, helping out a few friends. But a business knows customers aren't always friends. Fraud is rampant, and the legal requirements for each country are different. A good bit more effort for an ultimate small profit. Time better spent expanding one's domestic presence.

Why don't you make a friend over here (USA) and then have them send you what you're looking for? I've helped out several folks on this board, and still corresponde with them. If you have PayPal funds transfer is easy. No VAT or tariff on gifts either.

The last pair of 110 folding hunters my friend sent me from Oklahoma cost $17 and that was for 2 knives ,packaged extremely well,i just don't buyn the knives if shipping is crazy, same as the bay, some things look cheap but shipping will bite ya!

Two weeks ago I sent an email to BUCK regarding a custom and they said they would ship to the UK.

Although there is no international shipping option from the shop, have you been in contact with them directly to see if they would ship to Germany?

Haebbie, just get one of us to order it and then have it sent to Germany as a gift,it will save you a lot of money!

Anyone who does deals like that should remember the conman we had in here a few years ago from the UK who did some significant damage after establishing himself with some "buddies."

He was very, very convincing. Then he vanished.

I've read the sad tale in the archives here and it's quite interesting.......and makes you shake your head in dismay.

Haebbie has obviously been around a long time and proven himself.......stick with people like that.

Just a note to anyone shipping a knife to outside the USA.The few times that I've shipped a knife across the pond,I listed it as (camping tool) on the customs form.I was told that term is less likely to cause waves.

Thank you, Razor, that's very kind. But I don't want to bother you with my affairs.
Decaf Dave did a lot for me and some others from time to time. But it's not my thing
to carry the trouble to others for a knife I want to have.

By the way: Meanwhile the customs tariff gifts too. And if they don't believe the value
written on the customs delcaration they estimate the value and tax it on this basis.
Everything goes to the worse :(.

Thank You! ((going as red as a beet))

Well, I told Andre, that Buck ships to Germany. But as I got to know Buck doesn't accept foreign credit cards generally. But I offered him to help. He didn't accept.

Best,
Herbert

Well, i don´t want to bother anyone too. And there are some other knives i like.

Kind regards,

Perhaps a little creative thinking might bring about a way for these purchases to be made.

For example, sporting or hunting clubs in other countries could sponsor buying efforts.

They could make group purchases, collect money and pay Buck in a secure manner and then distribute the knives when they arrived.

If this were publicized on the internet and a coordinator of foreign sales designated at Buck......it could result in increased sales for Buck and many happy customers in foreign countries and help the sporting clubs gain new members.
