I have been looking at this knife for a while now. I have not handled it but I love the looks of it.

I have the aurora, north star and wet inviro.

I was not able to find any review or even mention of this knife as a bushcraft knife. Why so?

And what is your opinion of it?

where would it fall short of the Aurora or kosner, or bushtool?

What do you guys know that i dont know :p
Thanks

The Kephart is a great knife. It was made from some Speratti blades in somewhat limited numbers I believe. It probably isn't talked about because they are now hard to get.

There will be an upcoming run of full tang Bark River Kepharts in the future.

I think the BRKT (and all) Kepharts are perfect for "bushcrafting" as well as a more general-use WSK.

I bought mine in stag and it just looked too nice to be used, otherwise I'd be whacking wood and slicing salami with mine.

I too have Bark River's Aurora, Northstart, Nebula, Fox River and Kephart. It's funny how plain the Kephart looks, but Bark River's rendition is a tremendous user and excellent feeling blade. I got mine at a discount, but when I first handled it, it was an incredible deal!

I like the BRKT Kephart, but I don't like the swedge at the top. My understanding is that they are going to eventually put out a full tang, non-swedge version. That, I'd be on board with.

Maybe the reason it's not talked about so much is that it's 12C27 rather than carbon steel.

sooo I see :)
well, if it is not a full tang, I wont be buying it.
I just assumed that it was full tang because it was marketed as a serious bushcraft knife.

I have a question guys: Are there any disadvantages of hidden tang in a bushcraft knife like my wet inviro?

I don't think I'd be too worried about a hidden tang, when the blade is a BRKT. It's more of a personal preference when it's all coming from a maker of that quality. I have no doubt that they would take care of you if you were able to break it somehow.

And a plus for you is that in the winter, you won't have cold steel hitting your hand.

I usually carry a North Star when backpacking and a Canadian Special when car camping. I like the Kephart, and if it were offered in A2 I would get one.

If you don't trust knives that are not full tangs... beware... there is a number of BRKT knives that have exposed tangs but... are skeleotonized! I think the Aurora is one of them.

We don't see broken knives that ofen so I guess you shouldn't worry much about it.
