Side opening autos I know Spyderco has made, but never an otf? Any plans to have one? PLEASE SPYDERCO MAKE AN OTF!!!!!!!

if price was competitive maybe under benchmade, microtech etc. id be in. if it was a lot higher not so much......

Meh, I've owned a few OTF and would not consider them for any type of serious EDC, plus the legal aspect of it in some states/countries.

which ones did ya own? curious as ive had good runs with them under serious edc...but i always cleaned the blade before retracting and kept up with cleaning them.

One was an AKC Concord and the other was a Kershaw Launch, not the best quality ones, I know. I'm sure a MT may change my mind but I just can't justify the price.

Automatics are becoming legal in the US across the states in a blazing rate. Legally otf and side opening are treated the same.

Side opening autos have not been so good to me, with 3 expensive ones bouncing off the stop pin, where serious injury can occur. Where an otf fails, you're not losing fingers. Plus otfs carry slimmer in the pocket, a huge plus for me.

In terms of serious EDC testing, thelateboyscout did a MT ultratech hard test to see how strong an otf is, my thoughts after were I'd be ok with the otf for 99percent of my needs.

The Kershaw Launch is a side opening auto. The AKC Concord is an "entry level" otf, not really a serious cutter, but they come from Italy and look nice. :)

OTFs cost money to get tolerances perfect, more than any other design, so you pay for it.

From the Microtechs I've handled, I'll stick with regular folders. OTFs have too much blade wobble for my taste.

Understand and respect your opinion, however I'm fine with the wobble in an otf, AND SPYDERCO PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY!!! :)

I like OTF blades and they are over the counter where I live. I have 2 Infidels
and they are very nice with little play. Microtech is just down the road from me!

I would buy a spyderco OTF on contact. Unless it was serrated.
