Isn't this a smaller millie with a compression lock? Doesn't seem like something to worry about getting knocked off (millie design is out for the whole world to see, and who can pull off nested liners and a compression lock in a cheapie?)

Your right, its been showed at Blade and seems that if anybody was wanting to knock it off they would have been there and checked it out.

It's not just an issue of knockoffs. Spyderco chooses not to release pics of models unless they are 6 months away from production so they aren't flooded with orders or questions on why the model hasn't hit the shelves yet.

Well, there seem to be plenty of questions about the spyderfly, yojimbo, paramilitary, kerambit, etc. without pics. IMO, putting up pics with a projected release date would maybe quiet many of the questions (tip up/down, type of clip, handle material, hole size, 'when can I order', etc.)

Maybe it would be best if they made no mention of new models until 6 months before production. The Scorpius came outta the blue (to me), and I'm perfectly happy to be able to order one shortly after hearing about it. Maybe it's just my own perception, but Spyderco seems to get hounded about new models to a much greater degree than Benchmade, Microtech, Cold Steel, Kershaw, and others. (and yes, I was hounding a bit myself asking about para pics :D)

Some models take longer to perfect than others, and some fill a more important niche in the product line, I would think. I handled a Paramilitary prototype, and IMHO see no reason for all the enthusiasm, and did not care much for the ATR either. But then I am a little strange in my tastes, and love the Gunting, Dodo, Civilian, and Ronin, which many people just do not seem to like or understand.

There should be pics of the Paramilitary out shortly. We took some for the catalog which is scheduled to be released early NOV.

Regarding the "hounding", my fault for speaking too soon. You will ntice that we've made little mention of many of the new models to avoid speaking too soon.

Anyone received any updates on the Paramilitary? I got a chance to handle one at the last blade show and am eagerly waiting for a chance to acquire a paramilitary.
