Why no Spanto grind on the ZT 0560?

Hey guys,

First off, let me apologize in advance if this is a dumb question, I don't know too much about the inner workings behind knife collaborations.

But I was just curious - how come the 0560 does not feature the spanto grind from the XM-18/24? Was it a feature that Rick did not want to license out, unlike the XM18 bladeshape and lockbar stabilizer? Or, would it have been too costly to produce?

Thanks!

I think Rick grinds his spantos by hand which is why it's not in a production knife.

It was something that we discussed with Rick, but ultimately decided to forgo. I don't think the knife suffers much for not having the spanto tip - the flat ground blade is plenty beefy the way it is.

In any case, the 0560 is definitely a brother/sister to the XM-18, but it's not a twin sibling. It has some features of it's own, and the XM-18 has a few of it's own as well.

that grind is one of the most attractive things to me about the XM-18

i would love to see it on a ZT blade

The Spanto grind has both flat grinds but at different angles from each other, right? Its like a rounded tanto with extra metal in the tip for extra strength?
Its definitely interesting.
