Why no Tungsten-Carbide knives?

I need some replacement blades for my DeWalt planer.
The blades for it are "Carbide tipped".

So are my saw blades & router bits.

These things spend their entire life slamming into wood at several thousand times a minute, so, I have some trouble thinking that "carbide is too brittle for a knife" is the reason why .
Matter of fact - forget wood!
Carbide tooling slams into metal too!

As far as any cost considerations - that's not much of an obstacle - people are nuts, they pay just about anything for something they want.
(over $100 grand for an SUV for instance).

Anyhow - I was just wandering about why no knives as I was shopping for planer knives.

Blades with carbidized edges have been made for years. As for entire blades, check out Sandrin.

Sandrin makes some but I think for obvious reasons they are very difficult to produce given how hard the material is. Not to mention trying to sharpen and maintain a blade in that material is going to be pretty difficult for the average user.

In my opinion, the best currently available tungsten carbide-bladed knife for EDC:

Costs $199 and is fun, unique, and surprisingly easy to sharpen.
