Why not popular ?

When I first got interested in knives, really interested not just buying no name tack from the local sport store, the knife that I really wanted was a Buck Alpha Hunter fixed blade.
I just thought the whole look of the Knife was class what with the wooden handle grips and all. Even the steel ATS 34 was by most accounts a top steel.
Due to living in England I never did get one the price was too high due to shipping costs etc !!!
My question now though is why have these never been very popular ?
I have been a member on this forum for a few years now and they never seem to get hardly a mention, and when people show their collections I never see one layed out with the rest of the blades !

WHY ?

Did you ever handle a full sized Alpha??? They feel horrible in my hands----now the Mini Alpha is a different story---great little knife.

What he said. They have horribly sharp angles on the handle. Granted, I had one when they first came out and they may've changed but after about a minute of cutting my hand was gettin hot all over and if I'd kept it up blisters. Though, I do have one in my BOB as a backup.

I don't find the Alpha Hunter aesthetically attractive. Maybe if it had full handle slabs instead of those small onlay bits of wood?

They definitely aren't a financial bargain either. For the same price there are much nicer knives with better metal and prettier lines.

I was going to get one based on looks alone, then I saw one at a local Dicks Sporting Goods. Didn't like the ergos at all. You're not missing anything. Maybe someone could customize it for you if you do pick one up. The mini, while not my cup, was noticeably better than the full size model, but it had been modified by its owner.

No I must admit I never did handle one !
I don't think I would ever get one now as I have gone past that stage and found better things,if you know what I mean !!!
I was just curious that's all...Thanks !!!
