This is a question that has been racking my brain for a while...
What is it about sharpie that keeps lock bars from sticking? Is it functioning as a lubricant? Is it filling in the micro scratches in the blade tang making it more smooth? Is it acting as an interface between two dissimilar metals preventing galling?

I've never heard of that. Do you mean on the end of the lockbar where it connects with the blade in locked position? It sounds like a good idea.

Maybe you are thinking of the Sharpie being used on the relief edge to show that you are sharpening at the correct angle?

For this that aren't aware, you can use sharpie marker on the blade tang to help relieve sticky lock bars on titanium frame/lined knives. Not sure if it works on steel framed knives though.
This is only a temporary fix till it fully breaks in though.
