I can't carry autos legally in my state. I got a socom elite & LCC in MA; don't care for amphibian.

Love MTs but why so few manual action Microtechs?

They are out there, you just have to look.

At one time, I had many of the manuals, except for a mini-SOCOM with a tanto blade. I heard a rumor, and this is just a RUMOR, that there were manual mini-tantos until a distributor blew them out at below cost for a loss-leader. The RUMOR is that MT dropped the model.

(If anyone knows the TRUE story, I would like to hear it, as well. I think a mini-SOCOM tanto would be a classy little knife, and it would sell like hot-cakes.)

I've had a manual USSOCOM tanto, a manual USSOCOM clip point and several mini-SOCOM clip points in all their styles (plain and combo) and with all different blade finishes and handle colors.

Good luck with your search, they are great knives.

Ichabod, I can't help you with the rumour, but I have seen Mini-SOCOM M/As for sale. The first hit I got on Google while searching for "mini socom" turned this up: http://www.rayjayknives.com/rjk/mtminisocomsman.html

I've wanted one also, but the only ones that I've seen on sale were the clip point. A local dealer has 4 or 5, and they were on sale for $125 at one point. I've also seen some of the clip points on the 'net for as low as $95. If you find a source for inexpensive Tanto Mini SOCOM M/As, please let me know.

nonbox,

MT specializes in autos. :)

I'm surprised they do any manual actions.

The new mini SOCOM elite mznual looks sweet; frame lock ;)

I got the auto on the way Fed EX right now. I am looking forward to getting the manual to see how well MT executed the Frame lock. The Prototypes look sweet!!

Bought 2 manual Amphibians from 2guyselling on Ebay a while back for $99 each, was this a good deal? Just traded one for an identical auto model here on the forums.

One of the "2guyselling" is the founder of this forum. The price ($99) is outstanding. If you want to get rid of the second one for what you paid, just let me know :D

i bought 2 MT mini SOCOM tantos from mike turber (i think) a few yrs back when he was selling them for about $70 a pop, swapped them for a custom, i guess they are rare now?? mine had the signature blade and were black PE tantos........

SIFU1A, is correct. I had them at $99.95 then the last few at $69.95

They all came from CFI as alluded to above :)

well at least i know all the brain cells arent dead, lol, i thought it was you mike............a heckuva deal, wish i woulda kept one anyway, but the infamous JAXURMAN swapped me a crawford KFF for the 2 plus $100, if memory serves, so i came out ok i guess.

now watch someone tell me they are $300 each now, lol

MT is catering to the LE and Military crowd. Most of their customers presently come from those circles. It may be that no "manuals" leads that crowd their way but they want to cater to those groups.

I have a new MT model on the way for test and eval on our website at www.foders-r-us.org and it should be reported on in mid summer of this year if all goes well.

I just got my full size Socom Elite from the UPS man yesterday, and I couldnt be happier! Like said first post wish there was a little more of a product line... I dont really consider a smaller version of the same knife to be a diff knife.... :-/
