I want 9" over Bowie more!
But it is so few mass production Bowie knife, not commemorative but for real use, under $100. Randall is great, but too expensive for me to real use.
Now, it is all I know that CS Trailmaster, Ontario Marine Bowie, Busse 9", and Resqvival Aramo. Gerber Bowie is stopped now?
Why not Buck, Benchmade, CRKT, Emerson, Fallkniven, Microteck, Hattori, Ruana, and Smith & Wesson produce Hi-tech great BOWIE!
So a few user buy Bowie now?

Go to the HI forum and watch out for UBDOTD's. With a little luck and patience you can get a real good hard using knife much bigger than 9" for below 100 $ over there!!

The WESTERN brand bowie is an American classic, as it was a favorite in Viet Nam. This was one of the only affordable bowies availible to the average grunt during that conflict, and it proved itself to be quite a useful field tool, as the bowie design has through the years! Why is it so hard to get cheap and high-performance Bowie knife?

My guess would be economics. To keep prices low, knife companies have to produce in bulk. The same is true in any industry. Spyderco, for instance, knows it can produces boatloads and boatloads of Delicas because they're going to sell. But why would a company bother mass producing a Bowie? The market for them just isn't that big. Who would buy them? Knife fighters? First of all, there is no such animal - on the radar of the market, these guys aren't even a blip. Hikers? These days, less is more. Compact size and lightweight are the most important thing to the average hiker. Hunters? I can't say for sure, but it seems to me that the success of Loveless design knives were the death knell for the myth of the large hunting knife. I remember reading one of his catalogs over and over and over when I was about 11. In it, all the knives were pretty small and he said flat out, these knives will handle ANY hunting task in North America. So who does that leave? Who still buys Bowies? Well, I'd guess collectors and a few outdoors types who do prefer a giant, cumbersome blade.
