I'm offically needing a fix, it got me thinking though about the BK2 Vs the BK10.

When Cammilus closed and Kabar in conjunction with Ethan started producing the Beckers series why did the BK2 make the cut for production over the 10 ?.

Looking at the Bk9 & BK7, they share the same characteristics except for blade length.

So how is it that the BK2 made it and the BK10 did not ?.

Personally, the BK10 is on my definate wanted list but the BK2 though not so much (though i probablly will end up with one :p )

The two is my go-to.

I love the BK-2 above all my other knives. Sure, I'd like to pick up a 10 when they come out, but not to replace my 2. It would just be an adjunct to the 2.

This could all change when the tweeners come out. A new Becker with a 3 1/2 to 4 inch blade may win my heart then, but until that time, my trusty 2 will do.

TiNi,
I have to echo the others. The 2 is my blade. I would love a clip point but don't know exactly what tools to use, and would probably screw it up if I tried!
Each person likes different Beckers for different reasons. Reading the "Should I get a 7 or a 9" threads will make your head hurt. The recent improvements to the 2 added one of the features I thought the 10 had over it, the extended pommel for hammering.
Unless you are REALLY strapped for weight, the 2 is it.

I can't claim to read the minds of KA-BAR (well, I could, but it'd be a lie), but I suspect those were some of the deciding factors when selecting what knives to produce, along with past sales figures. Now that the knives have been proven successful (KA-BAR is NOT in business to lose money), we will see the other products rolling out. Can't wait. I don't "need" a 10, but I certainly will buy one!

Hey TiNi......

One of several reasons the BK2 Was released first is that although we had NO reliable sales numbers from Camillus we Knew the Campanion was a reliable seller but, the BK10 was largely an unknown.....So we went with what we knew would sell......I like the BK10 and at some point I hope it will be mfg again...but the Campanion works real well for a lot of people........There is a reason it is the best selling knife in the line and has been a big seller in the military as well as the civilian market.....A WHOLE lotta power in a compact package.......

All Best....

Thanks for the replies.

It looks like i will have to get a BK2 to see what you are all on about, dam it ;).

My BK10 has displaced every other fixed blade I own. I would be devastated if it were lost, so I very much hope that the bk10 will be made again...

any body know when the magnum is coming out?
it is second of three blades I will buy this year.

i dont really have anything to add... i just wanted to post it again:D great minds

When I began my search for THE knife I looked at everything and I just kept coming back to the BK2. The blade shape was just perfect. I didnt like the handles, the black finish or the sheath. But I couldn't find any other knives I liked as much. So I bought one and made it exactly what I wanted. Could I have had a full custom made exactly to be what my BK2 turned out to be? I guess so but I would have spent a lot more money ;)
