Why the bolster difference?

cant view it. says dont have permission to view that album. maybe cause im using a smart phone/mobile instead of a computer?

Picture came up for me ok. I'm not seeing what you are refering to. One handle is micarta and the other is birch, but the bolsters look the same to me.

The top knife's the front bolster is wider than the bottom.

Do you mean top to bottom or front to back? To me it looks like the angle for the top bolster isn't as steep as for the bottom knife. The bolster bottom of the top knife looks wider.

I thought it was an angle thing too. If it's a size difference and given the age could it be it was ground down many years ago?

I recently spa'd a pretty beat up scroll tang stamp 500. I had to take off quite a bit of metal as the knife had been used as a hammer but all in all I don't believe I removed more than a 64th of an inch. That being said a 64th on each side becomes a 32nd smaller overall.

Hard to diagnose with a picture.

It looks like one bolster is longer than the other and one is more rounded. The rounding is probably due to over zealous polishing. I have no idea why one would be longer.
