why there are two holes on knife tang

hi , you all.

i really like SP knives OKC made , but i do not know the reason that there are two holes on Sp knife tang , what are the pros and cons?

dingy,

The two holes are as follows:
1) The hole at the end of the tang is the lanyard/grommet hole. It provides a place for the grommet to hold the handle to the tang. It also is a hole to lace a lanyard through if one is desired.
2) The hole in the middle of the tang is a process hole. It is used to hold the blade when it is being ground. The grind fixture has a mating pin that fits into the tang hole. The fixture also has a ledge to hold the back of the blade and a clamp to keep the blade
secured to the fixture.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
