My Sebenza got scratched on its first day when I droped it (clumsy oaf that I am) but it did not bother me at all.

I have had it about a month now and carried/used it every day so it allready has numerous little dings/wear marks.

I can understand if someone has bought a kryptonite dammascus bladed seb with inliad diamonds but why do people worry about scratches on a working knife????????

I don't have the slightest idea. I use my small seb. I have lots of small scratches, you can only see them if the knife is at the right angle to the light. Carries great. I would not spend 300+ on a blade to lay on a desk. Just my opinion.

Buy it use it!

worry who? Me? Not at all... I've got some minor scratches on the blade (BTW, they blend perfectly in SW finish) and a lot of scratches on Ti handle. But that's the way a Sebbie should appear. A brend new, never used Sebenza is just another high $$$ shelf knife. A working sebenza shows the potential of the knife and of course a character of the owner (I buy the best to use it with pleasure). Why anyone should buy Large, Regular Sebenza and than not use it? That would make Chris' idea of "perfect working knife" not fulfilled. And that's not what Sebenza is all about - hard work. It must earn the money back... and frankly speaking a lot of it!

its like a new car. you wax it and try to keep it nice. inevitably its get scratched and dinged with use. i dont mind honest use. i have cringed the few times that i have dropped mt sebbie.

My small regular Seb' did a fine job of the food prep' at a friend's barbecue last weekend, yes it is scuffed / marked / scratched , but as other poster's have said, these blemishes all add character.

The first couple are killers, then as more marks develop, it gains 'character' as Nemo so rightly put it!:p

I didn't want to make the first mark on a new Sebenza; so I bought a lightly used one and saved $50. :)

I let mine sit its box for awhile before using it, probably because I wasn't used to carrying a knife that cost more than $50.00. I finally got to the point of saying that it wasn't doing me any good in the box, so I started carrying it, hoping that I didn't lose it or really scratch it up. Like many others, the more I carried it, the more I used it. I finally came to the conclusion that I would have saved alot of money on other knives if I would have bought my Sebenza first. Some knowledge is more expensive than other.

Does anyone have pictures of their Sebbies with character marks, I mean scratches? I'd like to see them.

Thanks,

Jason
