I just just got back from work to find the thread was locked with this message from Mr Jerry Busse "This has turned into a duplicate thread, so we will be locking this one down)" . The thread as many of you know was discussing the results of YouTuber Joex's recent test of Busse 2g ergo battle mistress, and was the only one of it's kind as far as I can tell. It was a popular thread garnering over 130 replies in ≈2 days. This is a topic that I was and still am very interested in (as I think quite a few people here might be as well judging from the replies). So if there is indeed a duplicate thread I would appreciate someone pointing me to it but if not and it was closed due to mod error can the thread please be unlocked? In the mean time I would appreciate the input of any member that can shed some light on this, and perhaps we can continue the discussion here?

I agree. For what its worth I have a few more things to say to some people on that thead.

Especially to the customs owning hipocrite. Send joeX your custom knife. Lets see how it does. It will likely fail well before any Busse, especially if we dare joe and tell him that his euro trash knives suck and that the american custom is better than all of them. I am sure he will give it a "really fair treatment on the rock and pole" 😂

(This is all in jest of course, don't take me seriously and dont send your custom knives either. Lol)

Personally I think the thread was going off the rails into off topic territory, like other company warranty complaints and other brands QC. Not surprised it got locked down.

His videos were discussed heavily and the community has reached a consensus that his tests are not scientific and he’s breaking blades to troll, picking and choosing which ones he likes more based on who’s fanbase he can annoy the most. He’s not doing tests to better the knife world, He just wants to get under peoples skin.

What do I think of the tests?
I wish he would stop rage baiting and be realistic when comparing the knives and their value. Stop saying something sucks when you purposely broke it, but when something else breaks much sooner he says it’s an awesome blade because it’s cheaper. If you crash both a Ferrari and a ford into a wall and they both get totaled, is the ford a better car because it’s cheaper? Is the Ferrari a terrible car because it costs a lot and broke?
Notice those questions don’t make sense.

I think he should conduct the test and share the results, and stop using his tests as a method of finding which knives are “bad”. If it fails on wood that’s one story. But if you beat your blade into a literal rock? That’s not “failure”. That’s simply destroying it.

I think the ergo and ash2 performed as promised at 60hrc, they’re also both backed by the lifetime guarantee.

Also just read Jerry Busse reply that addressed some of the concerns people had after the results of joex test. I am happy he is doing some testing on infi and it sounds like his tests are going to be thorough, repeatable, and scientifically driven to generate a lot of info on infi's performance, and hopefully superiority relative to other steels. I hope some of the steels tested are high toughness pm steels like z-tuff and 1v and some higher edge retention tool steels like 3v. And perhaps though less urgently for me some tough stainlesses like lc200n. I found it a little weird that he implied joex's test was unfair, as Busse had agreed to send him knives prior; probably because Busse was confident they would outperform the other knives Joe tested which would imply he gave them some merit as tests of durability and didn't think their outcomes were random. Perhaps he is so confident in the ability and durability of his knives that their poor performance changed his mind on joex's tests. Anyways if his tests are as thorough as he is hinting the credibility of their results will easily surpass that of joex's.

Right? In the long run, this guy is here for entertainment. The whole thing is a joke and should be classified as comedy. Science? Nope. Testing? Nope.

This guy has realized that the more controversial he can be, the more views he gets to his entertainment channel. Thus the “let’s drink” attacks. He realizes how things are here and by his comments, is watching this exact aftermath.

This guy’s fan base watches over and over feeling like they’re right for spending so little money on budget offerings; while Busse fans watch over and over to find things to rebuke. In the meantime, this guy gets to keep watching his count climb and so far; he’s one of the few in on the joke and is definitely laughing about all of this and reaping the rewards.

He’s a costumed clown, jumping into a frozen lake in between each scene and his crowd is comparing him and his antics to Lorien and his PHD and scientific testing?

I guess what I’m really saying is…let’s drink!…and stop continuing this guy’s agenda of connecting his name with Busse’s through search engine optimization.

Just my “one too many” thoughts.

Upon rereading Busse's post my attention is kind of drawn to the fact that he said the tests will take a long time. This is reasonable as I think everyone wants the tests to be as thorough and rigorous as possible, although I hope he gives us a rough timeline and that it is reasonable. I think and hope that everyone agrees that if the tests take long, and are not thorough this could be seen as stalling and waiting for the fire to calm down, and would be a big faux-pas.

The standard wait time is *two weeks*
What do you mean? I have heard that Busse has done some live demonstrations of their blades though have never seen one. If there is footage of these and they include include charpy or Izod testing (I don't even know what that second one is) I think someone would have mentioned it... maybe not? Could you please clarify what you mean?

I'll try to say it in a different way...

Two weeks is the standard waiting period for things that have been presented but not delivered.

Hey, Cobalt! Custom owning hypocrite here!😂😂😂 I will not send my beloved customs to Joe, firstly because I love them and secondly because they are a bit thicker than the Busses tested and all Sabre ground (some with a convex edge), so if they pass the tests (they would😅😅😅), you would say that it’s because they are thicker than the Busses and that wouldn’t prove anything! And I would sacrifice one of my beloved knives for almost nothing! I like my knives like that: chubby, saber grind (like the fat Battle Mistress, the one that started it all for me!) and made in steels focused in extreme toughness only, so almost zero Chromium. Of course I have more normal knives made to cut/slice, but most of my collection is focused in unbreakability!😅😅😅

Hope the tests take less time than “the Busse folder”!😂😂😂😂

A first and fastest test would be sending Larrin some Infi coupons to charpy test. Larrin is an independent and credible tester. This would prove beyond doubt that Infi is as tough as advertised and, if the value is higher than A8mod that Larrin already tested, it also proves that Infi is not A8mod.

If two weeks is too long, you can always do some testing of your own.
I don't think you need to destroy your knife to reassure yourself it will do what you want.

Despite JoeX's technique for fracturing blades, I learned a lot from his videos: that the knives chop and baton just fine; that you can rest assured if you need to jam your knife deep into something that requires that sort of attention, it can do that; and it's at least tough enough to chop through a car door's window frame. That's all I really need to know.

Chopping granite and hammering spines ? Well it's reassuring that physics is still working in our corner of the universe. Yeah that's how stress risers and fractures work.

I heard schmoeX is running an AustrianSF mission to steal your customs and break them. He is going to recruit a bunch of americans with Austrian torts, the main weapon of the Austrian army. Like steven segal, joe is just a cook. Which is why knives are so important to him.😂

At some point you gotta post some pics of your customs, I would love to see them..
