Why We Don't Mess With Beryllium

Thanks for giving yet another reason why many of us say NOT to use beryllium copper and other beryllium alloys on knives. Let's be honest....dust collection is non-existent in many shops and inadequate for something like beryllium in even the best shops.

How does one tell the difference between regular Copper and B. Copper??? Do distributors know about the health ramifications??? Or at least enough to make it a policy of not lumping it in the remanent shelving with all the other copper?

You can't tell by looking. I remember a case where a piece out of a scrap barrel turned out to be BeCu ,after it had been machined !! It's not that common and usually used for special things. In our case there was no excuse for putting it into the scrap barrel unidentified !
