Because they're great knives !
I've had the large serrated one for a couple of years, it's my travelling food prep knife.
I've been after the large and small plain edged models for a good while now, and getting increasingly agitated at not being able to find any
Well, the large arrived a few weeks ago, with a considerable amount of help from Mike Dye at New Graham knives, despite them not actually having one in stock (thank's Mike), and the small PE arrived just a couple days ago. I found the small one in an online "Arts, Crafts, and Collectables" store of all places, so it pays to keep looking
Whilst I believe it true that the beauty of most Spyderco's is in they're simplicity and outstanding fuction, I also believe that the micarta Calypso's are truely beautiful knives in an aesthetics sence as well as being the height of functionality.
I would also rate the micarta Calypso's above any of the CF models, not only in their classy look, but also in thier use (micarta isn't as slick as CF).
So if we have another forum model next year, or Spyderco decide to treat us to a re-relesed Calypso Jnr, can we please have at least a sprint run of micarta handles for us anal-retentive-absolutly-knutty-knife-collectors ?
BTW - On this subject I would just like it known that I'm NOT above begging if it would help
