I'm sharpening my Endura 4 ZDP with my Aligner clamp + DMT 6x2 stones (on a table, not using the entire Aligner kit).

Now, my blade has this microbevel I'm trying to get rid of right now. On one side, it's gone, and on the other side, it just won't go away. I've been working on my XC black stone for about 8 hours now, and that line doesn't seem much less gone.

I put another microbevel on using a higher angle and the DMT Fine stone. I gave 5 strokes to each side, doing 1-1 on each side. The microbevel was there and obvious.

And it's happening again: the microbevel is gone on the one side, but it's still there on the other. I can see the bevel moving higher on the blade on that other side with the stubborn microbevel, but the microbevel itself isn't going away; it's not moving toward the edge.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

If the bevel is moving higher, then your angle is probably too low, with a low angle you have more steel to remove before you get to the edge(or take away the micro-bevel).

You could be seeing a excessive burr build up as a result form too much grinding. You could also be grinding on one side too much.

I don't see an extra bevel when I look closely with a monocular (upside-down). Is it possible that it could be the light?

I don't think it could be a burr; the actual burr is pointing the other direction.
