Why won't any other manufacturer do "LIVE" testing like Busse Combat?

3G..

Yaa thats a good question...

I thought that brick chopping was a pretty decent way of testing the edge..I've never seen it in person,,but have seen quite a few pictures of it being done....

The Busse's hold up well I think...

There have been other manufacturers/makers who have demonstrated the use of their blades. Fikes has a cutting video where he films a bunch of testing on his knives by himself and other people. Phil Wilson and Wayne Goddard have done cutting comparisons at shows. Simonich broke a Raven and it was in Blade. Strider used to chop into table legs and stab concrete at shows. The cutting competitions are also public use of knives of which many people participate. With the ICCT this is now opening up and production companies like Spyderco will be entering blades.

The guys who sell the "miracle" kitchen knives love doing live demonstartions of their tools cutting ability at fairs, malls, TV infomercials, and anywhere else they can attract an audience.

Cold Steel and Ginsu do it all the time, look at the love and admiration it grants them.

Yah GINSU! is the stuff for live testing. I have me some awesome custom Ginsu knives. They cut pennies in half and still slice fruits thin:thumbup:

The key word here is LIVE! When has Cold Steel done LIVE demos?

You beat me to it 3G.

Cold steals demos dont prove much of anything as blade "STRENGTH" is involved when you think about it alot of those tests dont prove much. Alot of the stress on a knife blade is from sudden impacts from chopping and stabbing and alot of the knife tests he does are completely devoid of that.

Also its pretty much a shoe in that these knives are in soem way or another rigged. LT likes to hedge his bets so to speak.:( :barf:

There is a big difference between hacking at a peice of meat on a video and puttigna knife into a concrete block in front of a live audience.

Cold Steels demonstrations don't prove anything because the consumer isn't allowed to verify them. The same is true of Striders as well. They promote extreme claims, but if you try it and the knife fails - well don't expect a warm responce. The thing about Busse is that if performance is claimed and demonstrated it is also to be expected by the consumer.

Why aren't people just allowed to sign up and test whatever knife they want? Like if i wanted to show off say a bark river knife i could sign up and then test the knife on site.
