Why won't Emerson bring back the Hard Chrome finish??

how can you tell if you have the ceramic finish I just bought a commander and the blade looks like it was sand blasted (did not purchase through emerson)

The new ceramic finish looks like a brighter bead blast finish. Hard chrome is a beautiful satin finish with a shine.

I agree, I recently bought a EKC karambit (satin finish, which I believe is another name for the ceramic finish) and scratched the heck out of the blade the second day I had it. I'm still sick about it!

I have to think that the new finish is probably more cost effective. I like the old finish better too. The new finish seems to turn black as it scrapes off, weird. Anyway, it's still good enough for me.

You would think they would have tested it before they implemented a finish that lessens the quality of their product. I'm not criticizing the product or maybe I am, all I know is that I choose the "Satin finish" for the specific reason of resisting scratching or evidence of. Now I have a knife that "looks" worse than the 15 other knives in my collection that I've had and EDC'd for the past ten years, none of which cost as much as my new EKC karambit.

Please post your experiences with the new ceramic satin finish here. I will email this thread to the emerson email address.
