Why ZULU time

I know I changed it to EST Friday night...
I just went back to "user cp", and selected GMT/EST again. NOW it shows the correct time. What the heck?

O.K. - I know there has to be at least one more ignoramous out there who can't find it, but which one of these @Z!@*% illegible little blue buttons (that I can't read on a 19-in. screen) will take me to my "user CP" to change from ZULU to YOU ALL time??? Adding 6 hours is frustating when you only have five fingers on your non-typing hand.

Walosi,
Up at the top of the screen it's the leftmost of the little blue buttons.
Hmmm, what resolution you running??? You can just turn down the resolution on the monitor, making everything bigger. 640 x 480 would make everything really big. Also, try out opera 5.0. It's an <i>alternative</i> browser, as oppossed to Netscape and Internet Exploiter. I love Opera, I it's really really fast, and it has a zoom feature that even blows up graphics! Go to www.download.com and just type in opera. It will probably bring up several versions, just get the newest 32-bit Windows version, which would be 5.something now.

Thankee, Uncle Bill and Bob. Like Yvsa, I run a souped-up WebTV, which for surfing purposes is more than adequate. The screen, however, is the family TV set, and resolution adjustment is whatever was built into it at the factory. Absolutely no trouble navigating Sparks new set-up (within my own mental limitations, that is) but the buttons just won't read, even with sharpness setting firewalled.

Walosi, please go here. Near the top 1/4 of the page you'll see those same 'blue buttons' your web tv won't let you read clearly. Choose the farthest left one (user cp). If you are not logged in yet, you will need to do this on the bottom of the page before you can continue (a new page will automatically load). About a 1/3 of the way down you'll see these;

My vB Home : Edit Profile : Edit Options : Change Password : Edit Buddy List : Edit Ignore List : Private Messaging

Choose 'edit options'. This page will allow you change the time zone and other things you'll want to set. Check out the --- My vB Home : Edit Profile : Change Password --- pages too ;)

billpaxton--Thanks for info on the little blue buttons. I should have looked closer.:)

Gentlemen -

Thank you all. Went there. Found it. Did that. Apparently it justs adjusts your local time to ZULU, to keep the posts aligned, and, just as apparently, mine was already adjusted (?). Fun, tho' :)

Hey Folks...Did your all's screens just completely change color and grow a new "vBULLETIN instant community" icon? Did 'ol Sparky just change the resolution on the Forums? 'Cause this board sure looks alot bigger on my monitor screen all a sudden...

Walosi,
Were you able to set yours to the correct time? I've tried buku times, just get an administrative message... :(

I contacted Spark and asked for help, he told me that I was SOL because "webtvs are crummy browsers"... :confused:

Spark, my daughter-in-law who teaches HS business computer, and a whole raft of others will tell you WebTV has a lousy browser. Mine supports 4.0, runs at 34,000 bps to 51,000 bps and takes me where I want to go. That said, it does poorly in heavy javascript sites (MSN does not like javascript, AOL does not like html).

As to the time setting, I did not get a reaction at all - went back a second time to the drop-down menu, and was back on GMT. One other poster has said the same thing for his first attempt - guess it isn't resolved at this point. Still, if it doesn't re-set, no biggie. The UK sites I surf have never offered that accomodation, and I have survived :)
