Why is it ok to say, "Gorgeous knife, good luck with the sale" in the custom forums, but I just got a warning for saying something similar in the Bussekin sales forum? I don't see the problem complimenting someones knife that they have listed to sell.

Can someone please explain?
Thanks,
Jon

In the knife makers section you are communicating directly with the maker so feedback is welcomed and wanted unless specified.

In an individual sale forum, that individual is selling the one knife he has. A knifemaker is selling that knife, and can sell another like it if you ask. Also, the more praise, the better he knows what styles are popular, what techniques his buyers want to see.

The problem with complimenting a knife is that it interferes with the sale. It is empty chatter that doesn't get the knife sold. And if too many people follow you, someone else seeing so many responses may not even open the thread.
