Why can we not have a Spyderco Janisong in the US? That is totally stupid you know? Sorry, it just gets my goat cause it's a really nice knife........ Dang rules and regs!..... Mumble grumble..... Rant Over....

The way the laws are changing, the old outdated are getting ash canned and new "common sense" regs put in their place maybe soon we'll see more imports.

I'd love to be able to collect more FHM's direct.

I'm not sure why the US has a ban on the import of "butterfly knives", or "balisongs", but you could always ask Spyderco why they don't make the knife here in the US so that citizens of the US, and US Spyderco fans, can buy them.

If Spyderco made them in the US that would certainly be a way around the import ban.

Spyderco got in trouble a few years back when the feds fined them for importing the parts (to be assembled in the US) for some of their earlier "Butterfly" models like the Spyderfly and the Szabofly. They were fined heavily to the tune of nearly $500,000. They no longer take any chances and that is why they will not sell the Janisong in the US. I own one. A friend brought it over when he traveled here this past summer visiting from Japan. I have heard that Spyderco plans to produce the Janisong in the US eventually. When that will be is anyone's guess.
