<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Why it's better the tachyon than the new balisong BM ?</font>
With the exception of Mike (and what do you expect from him under the circumstances), nobody has said that it is. Tachyon is great. I'm very happy to be number one in line for one. It's different than BM's product. It has some features such as the reversible/removable latch that are, perhaps, "better" than BM's offering. But, we've yet to find out about its long-term durability, for example. I prefer to say that it's different. That's good. I'm very, very glad that Tachyon is different and not a me-too product.

Not at this time, I don't think. Now, the interesting news is that the parts that make up Tachyon's handles are machined out. This means that it's not unreasonable to think that Microtech may eventually come out with different lengths. BM's handles are cast. Casting is a significantly less expensive process. But, casting first requires the creation of a very expensive mould. It will not surprise me to see BM eventually come out with some different sizes. But, MT can do so easier. Right now, Tachyon is a bit smaller. Some people will prefer that. For me, I find BM's old 3"ers to short and difficult to manipulate. But, 4" is sometimes to long for social carry. Tachyon is a nice compromise.

There is no such thing as a non-combat knife.
If the situation presents itself and a balisong is what I've got, then a balisong is what I'm gonna use.
If the situation presents itself and an Xacto hobby knife is what I have, that's what I'm gonna use.
Fortunately, "the situation" does not often present itself. So, I frequently use balisongs for non-combative applications.

Thank Mike. It was his idea.
