why is it that juries are harder on knife stabbings? i read somewhere that juries take those harder than that of a shooting.. is this correct and if so why!!!!!

Because in western culture in general as reflected in the movies, gentlemen and good guys (like cops and cowboys) use guns, and criminals and low-lifes use knives. Seriously, this is why historically states like Texas have liberal gun laws but restrictive knife laws. Prosecutors and juries share these societal biases. Hence the assumption that you are better off shooting someone in self defense then stabbing them.

wow... amazing response man. didnt know that... tennessee is like texas in the gun laws and knife laws... then go to MA and you have liberal knife laws and communist gun laws. its fucked up. oh well, thanks for the help man... this perfectly answers my question.

To go a bit more into detail, a knife is up close and personal. You have to be in someones face to use it. A big tough thug isn`t afraid of jumping you and cutting you up. (Does that sound like intent to anyone?)
But a gun is a distance weapon that a weaker person ( Small stature, elderly, female, handicapped, take your pick) can use to save their lives. Remember Col. Sam colt made all men equal. The first Colt 6 shooters were even called "Peace Makers">
