Why are people such pussies these days? This is not aimed at anyone in particular, unless they are a thin-skinned self-identifier.

Let's keep the discussion above board please. I am no sociologist but I am wondering why it is that certain people (not a code word for minorities BTW, the problem is way bigger than that), always demand "respect" when they have done nothing to earn it.

We could be talking about a nimrod prankster who complains about being left out of his graduation ceremony despite being warned he'd be held out if caught.

We could be talking about people who cannot get promoted due to being functional illiterates, but who know enough to sue.

We could be talking about that ugly chick in the fake motivational poster protesting Hooters. I mean WTF--who is the audience?

We could be talking about some punk who wants his opinion on knives respected but who has never even had stitches in his digits.

Where'd this sickening and generalized "demand" for respect come from? More importantly, how to we better disregard it altogether?

I stay away from these threads because I think they don't really contribute anything. I hate internet arguing and bickering. The way I see it "respect" is you have your views and thoughts and I have mine. There is no need to force them upon each others. It goes a little beyond the golden rule because the way you like to be treated is now how others want to be treated.

It's like any situation in life, walk away if you don't like it. Believe in yourself.

Couldn't agree more. They turn into threads of having to have the last word. I have no problem with a wide range of content, as obvious from numerous posts, but once it turns into a fight I no longer care what either side has to say because the fight is what kills the thread.

I'm going to close this thread as well. Boats, you know we have never stifled opinion or disallowed posts or pictures. It's the conflict not the content. I also locked the thread that got heated over LEOs earlier today so no one is picking on you.
