Hi,
Here in Italy it's highly advisable to keep a very low profile when you carry a knife (that means conceal it

) : in order to do this i tend to carry a three or four inches folder, which i think it's the right compromise between utility and concealability.
I tend to carry my knives in the front right pocket of my pants if i am wearing a sweater or a jacket, or in the waistband when a wear just a t-shirt.When i am carrying in the waistband i switch from my beloved pentagon elite to a cold-steel scimitar:altough it is bigger in size, the curved handle protrudes just a fraction of an inch from the waist and so it can be easily covered even keeping the shirt tucked in the pants.Even if it's not covered, since i wear black most of the time the knife is very hard to spot.
Enough babbling, now off with the question:
In your opinion , wich is the most concealable folder in either carrying method, and why?

Hello Maxegb,

I don't know that I have the 'ultimate' answer for what's the most concealable folder but I will add my thoughts. As an everyday carrier of at least one major blade as well as other lesser ones at various times I feel that the subject of conceal has to be weighed with practical access and purpose of carry. Though I have some fairly major blades that I've made neck sheaths for that are well concealed they are not my favorite. Of course I never did like carrying anything on my neck, just personal preferences, but should I want a good conceal that would be a decent choice. For my own personal cc I seem to prefer iwb, either just right or just left of center, first belt loop position either side. Slanted down at a 45 degr, depending on blade it makes a good draw easy. The raked angle is multi purpose: helps conceal clip behind belt, helps accessibility, comfort. Best suited for this purpose for me are folders that have relative thin dimensions with a high clip position. I suppose if I wanted a really deep carry I would have an inside tap sewn on to make it a total hide, but for me this is unnecessary. Again accessibility is the controling factor, what works for you may not work for me. As for me the above carry works well with a variety of production folders including but not limited to cold steel, BM, Spydie, Dalton. Bm 710 is my current fav. Usually a dark high installed clip on a relative thin folder seems to work best on this end. With that being said I have been carrying my new Sifu weakside front iwb as described above and with a little bit of shirt material to help cover, this big boy just dissappears.

I carry my Spydie Cricket very openly in the breast pocket of my shirt, where it mixes well with pen and pencil.
This is a case of the "purloined letter", it is too open to suspect a knife.
And I do not feel "underknifed", look at the blade.

Hello, maxegb!

It is nice to meet another Forumite from Italy! From which part of Italy are you from?

I could write something in Italian, but it wouldn't be nice for the other Not-Italian people who spend many hours here!

We could discuss where it is convenient to buy our toys in this strange nation!

The most easily concealed I can think of is the Spyderco Police necklace. Just an itty bitty Police model on a chain. Keep it tucked in your shirt, and no one would ever suspect it's a kinfe. Of course, I'm not quite sure about its utility value.

If you want a small knife with some purpose, you could try the Spyderco Cricket or one of those small Junglee folders. I have no experience with Junglee, so don't buy one without holding it first. I'd say it's a safe bet that very few people have heard many complaints regarding Spyderco though.

As was already mentioned, the EDI Genesis rides pretty low, and is supposed to be a darn good knife.

Try a neck kydex sheath for your favorite folder. It holds the knife securely and you can wear any type of attire as long as a shirt is included. Even with formal wear a button left open under your tie leaves you quick access to the folder.

Hey,

Nice to find someone who enjoys their Pentagon Elite as much as I do. I also have a Benchamde Axis which is actually very large in size but, the pocket clip is so high on the handle, it is a real "low rider". I know Benchmade also offers a smaller version. The lock on it is superb. As far as comfort and concealment, I barely even realize I have it on! Take care!

I have taken even large Zytel folders (CS Voyager) in to nightclubs where there is a pat-down search at the door. All I do is clip the knife to my underwear in front. With a good wide belt and decent sized buckle, the knife is undetectable unless the bouncer or LEO wants to go below the belt and get a little "friendly." All they feel is the belt and buckle. This has been tested time and time again and the only time I got burned was when I forgot to do this and left the knife clipped to my pocket. They just made me go stash it somewhere for later retrieval. YMMV.
