Hi,
My knife got stolen a couple days ago during a trip i Poland.
I need it quite often (for hunting, fishing, hiking, etc) so i really got to buy me a new one soon.
I visited a couple of stores and websites and i made a choice of 4 awesome looking models.
Considering the fact i have no experience with these models nor with the company that factures them i wonder wich one you guys would recommend:

Benchmade Outbounder: http://www.benchmade.com/detail.asp?model=180
Fallkniven NL3: http://www.fallkniven.com/nothern/us-nl3.htm
Dozier KS3: http://www.dozierknives.com/ks-3.html
Camillus Talonite Talon: http://www.camillusknives.com/cuada-talon.htm

thnx!

btw forgive my english i did never pay attention at school :) (im Belgian)

janusz,

Welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear about the lost knife.

The four knives you are looking at are excellent. I would rather not go with the Camillus Talon for hunting, fishing, and fieldcraft, unless you plan to work within a highly corrosive environment. Talonite is not a steel alloy. it is a material which is completely stain resistant and makes for an excellent dive or boat knife, or for a good low maintenance survival knife. It is however softer than steel and will not hold an edge for as long as your other choices (although it is surprisingly good).

I would prefer to go with the Fallkniven or the Dozier simply since the blade shape is a little more traditional for the types of activity you are interested in. But, this is entirely a personal choice and would depend on how you like to use your knives.

Perhaps you will eventually end up collecting all four knives. :)

Go for the Dozier! Unless you need the corrosion resistance of the Talonite, the Dozier is the best knife there IMO. Its also the only one listed thats not a production knife so that is nice, but it means there will probably be a bit of a wait to get one unless you know somewhere to get it, or AG Russell has it in stock. Either way its worth it.

I was in the market for a small fixed blade and ended up getting a Dozier Straight Personal from AG Russell. Because of the wait I went ahead and spent $20 on a cheap fixed blade to use untill it arrived (Cammillus Cuda Arc Lite) It was worth the wait and the extra $20 IMO, and that little Cuda Arc Lite turned out to be a fine little knife at the same time.

Never owned anyone of those knives, But have owned many BM's and the outbounder is a nice knife, and the dozier lloks like one and has good reviews, out of those 4 I'd probly pick the BM. But if I was looking for a fixed blade hunting/camping/fishing knife i would also look at Marbles, Blackjacks and Case knives. Some pics below for examples.
Black jack Small is vry nice:

Balckjack trailguide II (they come in about 4 diff handle materials)

Marbles Sports:

Too many nice Case knives to list and show pics, but you should take at look around at them.

Looking at the Doziers I liked the K2 and K4's better then K3 but Maybe your wanting that longer blade on the K3? I think any of these knives are well made, you will be picking one out based on the looka nd feel of it rather then quality. Good luck

Thanks for your advise!
I think I will go for the Dozier then.
But first I'll have to find a dealer in the neighbourhood.

Hmm I rather like the model on top NGK-Webmaster :)
Never heard of the marks you named tho (prolly because they are American, I am from Europe u know)

Yes the one on top is a newer Blackjack, and is very nice, grip fills the hand well, Ken Warner owns the Blackjack name now and has the knives made for him in greenville ,North Carolina I beleive can't remember the companys name, old original Blackjacks when you can find them are some very impressive made knives, you can do a search for them online and find dealers who still have the old ones in stock in small quantites usually one or two peices but if you can find one they are worth the money. The newer made ones are still nice especially if your looking for a fixed blade hunting style knife. Ken Warner also has his own line of knives out that are quite impressive for the money, most of them are large knives but are made very well and the designs are very well thought out making the knives very useable and field worthy. I think his knives are very underated for what you get for your money.

Some the older sheaths he was using were kind of gawky, they worked for what he designed them for but none the less were gawky, but I beleive he is changing the sheaths out now for ones more like that pictured with the Workr, which by the way is my favorite one of his knives, very impressive feel to it.

ken Warner knives are called "Big Country Knives" here is a link to the Blackjack website by Ken Warner also his "Big Country Knives":

New Graham Knives

Hmm I think they are a bit too big :)
I would frighten people walking around with such semi-swords hanging from my belt :)
I'd rather buy something under 4 inch for the things i do with it...
