Hi folks,

I like leather handel knives, what do you suggest me ?

Are Sog Bowie good knives ?

thanks for replies.

Randall Made Knives in Orlando, Florida if you have the money. You can at least get their catalog to drool over.

The Sog Bowie looks good in the photos. But, I've never handled one. If you get one it would be great to hear what you think of it.

If you're on a budget, I might suggest Marbles, they're decent for general work. My Dad has an old Kinfolk with a leather stacked handle he's had since I was a boy (that was back when Moby Dick was a minnow), and it's still going strong. Also, AG Russell has some in his online catalog if money isn't a problem.

Sharp-K, get yourself one of the small Estwing hatchets with a leather handle. You will fall in love with it!

I'm with oldscrimmer on this one, sharp-k. If you want leather handle knife, you should get a time-proven classic one.

A Kabar Classic, a Marbles Ideal, or a Case Finn would be excellent choices that have been around forever because they work.

Yup, you got it! Dr. Mudd has it right on the Estwings. I have had one for over 25 years.....absolutely a great tool! Check AG Russell's website and online catalog you'll get some good info and good pix even if you don't buy anything from them. I left you a link above, you can navigate from there.

I don't know if Bark River makes many knives with stacked leather handles. Their products are very high quality though.

I don't have a Ka-Bar, but if it's as good as the Camillus USMC than it's a bargain.

The Marbles' with stacked leather in the 1990s were very nice. Don't know about their current production personally, but I haven't heard anything bad.

Webster Marble invented the leather washer handle.

Get yourself a Bobcat Marbles knife made between 1997-2002 in 52100B.
Even the newer ones are pretty good.

I recommend Jarvenpaa's Aito. Ragnar (www.ragweedforge.com) sells it.

While this knife is very nice with leather handles I recommend that you consider the same knife with birchbark handles. The latter version feels much nicer to me than its leather-handled counterpart, especially in the cold.

For a 5" Fallkniven’s Northern Light leather handled hunter, this seems to be a good deal;
Northern Light 5” FREY

You may find more Fallkniven's leather handle Northern series here;
Northern Light Series

Though, I also prefer wooden handle and specially like thinner blade working knives from Nordic countries such as Helle from Norway. Good price too…...!

I got a old SOG bowie with gun-blued carbon steel. Never use it, so cannot tell you anything except it is thick, heavy and built like a tank.
SOG Carbon Bowie

Good luck to you search......^_^

I just want to add that you won't be disappointed in the KABAR classic. I own one. It feels very solid, you feels like you just can't break it. And they're in everyone's budget.
